ADHD Prescribing Team
We are fortunate to have three excellent, experienced and highly qualified clinical prescribers on our team. They all work remotely and clients can be seen from ages 11 (attending secondary school) through to adulthood. Our prescribers are qualified to initiate, review and manage dose titration, for clients where medication is deemed suitable. Our medication team consists of Bolu Abifarin, (seeing clients from age 11 +), Ashiyana Vali and Adil Bhaloda (both seeing clients from age 16 years and above).
The ADHD diagnosis must have been made by a Psychologist within Malvern Hills Private Practice or by a Psychologist registered with our Partnership Pathway.
Please check with your assessor to see if they are registered with us. If not they are welcome to complete our Partnership Application form to apply.
Fees for ADHD Medication Consults are as follows:
- Initial Medication Assessment (50 mins) – £295
- Follow up (25 – 30 mins) – £147.50
- Prescriptions outside of appointments (£30)
Please allow at least 3 follow up appointments to fully stabilise dose and type of medication. The pharmacy will charge a fee for your private prescription to be filled which can be between £60 and £150 depending on type, dose and amount.
Once you are stable on medication, our prescriber will write to your GP to request a shared care arrangement.
Working Towards GP Shared Care
Once your medication is optimised and you are stable (this usually takes at least three follow ups) many patients seek a shared care arrangement with their GP
- NHS GPs are under guidance to only accept reports and assessments they believe are accurate and valid. This is why our report is 15+ pages, to provide full clarity on the diagnosis and any other mental health concerns.
- We believe our assessment and report will be accepted as valid by your GP. We meet all criteria set out in the Hereford and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board clinical policies guidance. Copies available on request. However this is at the discretion of your GP and there is variation between practices.
- Once medication is prescribed your GP will received correspondence regarding the type and dose.
- We suggest you discuss this with your GP so they are aware you are seeking support outside of the NHS.
- Most GPs prefer the ADHD prescriber to undertake 6 monthly reviews. This 6 monthly review appointment needs to be booked at the final follow up.
- 30 minute reviews with the ADHD prescriber will continue for the duration that you are taking medication (every 6 months)
- There have been some recent changes with more GPs declining shared care due to lack of funding and capacity.
- We advise you speak to your GP directly on their practice policy, prior to seeing our Prescribers.
